Wellbeing
At Riverside Academy, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Across both our Oxford International Curriculum and Enhanced Ghana Education Service (G.E.S.) Curriculum pathways, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
We believe that children learn best when they feel secure, respected and connected. Our whole-school approach to wellbeing ensures that every learner is supported to develop confidence, resilience, positive relationships and a lifelong love of learning.

Every feeling matters.

It is okay to ask for help.

Talking about emotions builds strength.
Calm Corners and Reflection Spaces
Our classrooms provide spaces where children can pause, reflect and regulate their emotions.
These spaces encourage:

Mindfulness.
-
Quiet reflection.
-
Emotional regulation.
-
Independent problem-solving.
Growth Mindset Culture
We encourage learners to embrace challenges and view mistakes as opportunities to grow.
Children are reminded:
-
"I can improve."
-
"Challenges help me learn."
-
"I can achieve through effort and perseverance."
Fruity Thursday
Healthy Choices. Happy Learners.
As part of our Thrive Together wellbeing programme, Fruity Thursday is our weekly healthy eating initiative that encourages pupils and staff to make nutritious food choices.
Every Thursday, learners bring a portion of fresh fruit to enjoy during the school day, promoting healthy eating habits while reinforcing the connection between nutrition, wellbeing and learning.
More than just a healthy snack, Fruity Thursday helps children understand the importance of balanced diets, healthy lifestyles and caring for their bodies.
Through classroom discussions, nutrition awareness activities and positive role modelling, pupils develop lifelong habits that support:
-
Physical health.
-
Concentration and learning.
-
Energy and participation.
-
Positive lifestyle choices.
Families are encouraged to support this initiative by helping children develop healthy eating habits at home.
Together, we are creating a culture where healthy choices become everyday choices.
Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies
Wellbeing extends beyond emotional support. We encourage children to develop healthy lifestyles through:
-
Physical education.
