Riverside Academy has officially formed a Table Tennis Club, further strengthening its commitment to Skills and Talent Development, one of the school's six strategic focus areas. This initiative follows a successful training session led by Timothy Abaidoo, a professional table tennis trainer, player, and Vice-President of the Ashanti Table Tennis Association (ASHTTA).

Hands-on Training and Drills

During his visit, Timothy Abaidoo guided students through beginner-level table tennis drills, including:

✔ Grip Techniques – Learning the correct way to hold the racket (shakehand and penhold grips).

✔ Ball Control – Practicing bouncing the ball on the racket to develop control.

✔ Basic Strokes – Forehand and backhand drive techniques.

✔ Footwork Drills – Moving efficiently to hit the ball from different angles.

✔ Service Practice – Learning how to serve the ball correctly with spin and control.

✔ Return of Serve – Practicing receiving and responding to different types of serves.

Table Tennis Club: The Future of the Sport at Riverside

With the establishment of the Riverside Academy Table Tennis Club, students will now have regular opportunities to train, compete, and improve their skills.

The club aims to:

🔹 Conduct Saturday training sessions with professional coaches.

🔹 Organise vacation table tennis camps for intensive skill development.

🔹 Provide pathways for outstanding players to compete in national and international tournaments.

Commitment to Sports Development

Riverside Academy is dedicated to promoting diverse sports beyond traditional games, ensuring students explore their potential across multiple disciplines. Watching Timothy Abaidoo guide students through grip techniques, ball control, basic strokes, footwork, and serving drills highlighted the importance of consistent practice and attention to fundamentals.
